World Series Games 1 & 2: Freaky Wednesday/Thursday

Now Playing: Fly Me to the Moon [ Frank Sinatra ]
‘Fly me to the moon, let me play among the stars;
let me see what spring is like on Jupiter & Mars’ ;)

Okay, I know it’s not really a pump-up song, but I ♥ Frank Sinatra and it came up on my shuffle so I decided it was gonna stay that way. Hehe.

The World freakin’ Series. Hard to believe we’ve already had two games. Also hard to believe that CC Sabathia and AJ Burnett had a Freaky Friday-but-really-Wednesday-Thursday moment (more on that soon). To sum it up, the series is tied 1-1, and our boys are now in Philly awaiting tonight’s Game 3 start at Citizens Bank Park. Andy Pettitte, our own version of Southern Comfort, will be on the mound to face Cole Hamels. Now, it is Halloween, and I will be out at a friend’s house, but luckily a TV will be available. No need to fear, folks. I will be watching this game, no. matter. what. =)

burnett06b.png     Now, back to the CC and AJ situ. CC pitched game 1, and he pitched pretty well. He wasn’t his usual stellar self, but it certainly would’ve been enough to get by if not for our lapsing offense. Clearly, they decided not to show up on Wednesday [sigh]. I was quite close to throwing something large and lamp-shaped into my TV, but I refrained. I remembered that we need to keep TPPT and GoodKarma on our side for this entire series. It was one game out of a possible seven. We had time. We were more than capable of coming back in the end. Okay, by “the end” I was hoping “the end of this game,” but we all know that didn’t happen. The fact that Phil Hughes did his best impression of a choke artist plus the fact that Brian Bruney is, well, Brian Bruney, left us in a 6-0 hole. The final was 6-1. Yuck.
I know I said our offense was slacking, which it was, but I must give credit where credit is due. Cliff Lee basically spanked us and put us in time-out like we were disobedient children (more on this momentarily). He’s good. Too good. I’m not gonna knock the guy for his talent. He was just better Wednesday night. Props to him. [facepalm]

Lucky for us, Thursday night was alright for fightin’. AJ freakin’ Burnett was in. the. building. Wheelin’ & dealin’ some filthy-nasty pitches. It was artful, a beautiful sight to behold [in more ways than one ;) ]. Seven strong innings, four hits, one earned run, and nine K’s. He Hulkified and basically turned the tables on the Phillies. Throw in some Mariano Rivera for the two-out save and some Pedro Martinez for the LOSS, and we are good to go. It was like a spa day. So relaxing.
I was looking through pictures from this game, and I swear I’ve never seen so many of Derek Jeter completely pumped up. It seemed like every other click led to a fist pump and a mouthing of something along the lines of “YEAAAAAH!!!” Just an interesting tidbit I thought I’d share, but I digress.

teixeira09b.png     The final of this game was only 3-1, but those 3 were a huuge 3, clearly. Some Texual Healin’ courtesy of Mark Teixeira and a Godzilla impression courtesy of Hideki Matsui confirmed the paternity test. The Yankees are, in fact, Pedro’s daddy. It was our turn to spank him and put him in time-out, fershure! Tack on another run courtesy of Brett “The Jett” Gardner [running for Jerry Hairston, Jr., who had a base knock] brought in by Jorge Posada, and we have Game 2 in the bag. Good stuff, good stuff.

pmartinezb.png     To rewind for a second… In all honesty, I wasn’t that impressed with the Jay-Z/Alicia Keys performance. I actually listened to the song itself, and it’s kinda dumb, I can’t lie. The chorus doesn’t even rhyme. If Billy Joel was there playing “New York State of Mind,” it would’ve been better. Hands down. And what was Alicia wearing? Honestly? Whatever. It’s over. Hopefully it never happens again. Sorry to those who think H-to-the-Izzoh, V-to-the-Izzay is the Second Coming (but not really). =)

So, of course we’re expecting big things from our favorite Southpaw tonight. I have faith in him. He’s Andy Pettitte. If anyone can do this, it’s him. He’s got the bling to show for it. We have got this series, no matter what anybody says. We have GOT this. LET’S GO, YANKEES! *CLAP, CLAP, CLAPCLAPCLAP!*

ALCS Games 4 & 5: Myocardial Infarction, FTW.

Now Playing: Love in an Elevator [ Aerosmith ]
‘Workin’ like a dog for the boss man, workin’ for the company;
I’m bettin’ on the dice I’m tossin’, I’m gonna have a fantasy.’ ;)

     Ay Dios mio.

I don’t know how much more of this I can handle. First we get spoiled beyond the point of recovery in game 4, then Game 5 happens and basically AK-47′s our hopes for the night. Now that is clearly not cool.

This will be relatively short, because yesterday’s game nearly killed me and I think I’d have a traumatic experience if I have to relive it. However, I’m more than happy to talk about Game 4. =)

CC muh-flippin’ Sabathia. DOMINANT. There are not enough positive adjectives in the English language to desribe this beast of a man. He’s spectacular, stupendous, marvelous, et cetera, et cetera. Redundance is completely necessary. Let the broken records play. I’ll be singing this guy’s praises until I kick the bucket. He is epic. He is god-like. He is quite possibly the Second Coming.

Offense: <33333 Could you come into my life [well, all our lives] more often please?! You hardly call or give me [us] nice things anymore… I felt like we were drifting slowly apart, it was almost too painful to bear… Okay, dramatic monologue over. Seriously, though. Scott Kazmir may as well have been hit by a Mac truck. Same goes for Matt Palmer. Poor chumps, they had no idea it was coming. Just see for yourself…

boxscore1020.pngMelky El Lechito Cabrera? Beastin’. Alexander The Great Rodriguez? Beastin’ even more. Johnny J-Dames Damon? ‘Bout time you woke your a$s up! A beautiful, beautiful 10-1 win over LAAAAAAAAAA? Priceless. There really are some things money can’t buy. Gratification, for the win. ;D

Sure, they basically butt-plugged the Angels in this game. That was all well and good. Last night, they’re on the verge of a monumental comeback and FAIL miserably. Oh Phil Hughes. Oh, Nick Swisher. Oh, everybody. Where were you last night? Maybe these off days are too much. At least it’s back to the homeland for Game 6, which will hopefully be the last for LAAAAAAAAAA. I’m sick of them. Having a holy object as a mascot is just cruel. Nepitism, I tell you! [shakes fist at sky] But that’s besides the point. Tomorrow, the Angels will be flying back to SoCal or Heaven, but preferably Hell… [or wherever the hell they habituate] and staying there until next season. MARK MY WORDS.

In other news, the Phillies beat the Dodgers in their series 4-1 and will be the opponent for the World Series. C’mon Yanks, GET WITH IT SO WE CAN SEND THESE GUYS PACKIN’ TOO! =) TPPT & GoodKarma be with us, y’all!

- Hasta La Vista, Babies!

ALCS Game 3: Oh, HELL No!

Now Playing: Lights [ Journey ]
‘So you think you’re lonely, well my friend I’m lonely too
I want to get back to my city by the bay…’ ;)

     -_-”

Okay, maybe not by the bay since ‘bay’ may be related to California… but you get the idea.

Today was obviously not a very good display of what our boys are capable of, to say the very least. It definitely could have been prevented through many various means.

I’m gonna keep this short and sweet, ’cause I’m not really in the mood to get into detail. Let’s just say Andy Pettitte should’ve gotten more run support, and Joe Girardi just plain screwed himself over, i.e. Mariano Rivera and David Robertson.

At least CC Sabathia is on the mound tomorrow; the stopper, the drain, the knight in shining armor, etc. Let’s just hope the bats come alive and get something done. Here’s looking at you, Mark Teixeira, Nick Swisher, and Melky Cabrera[cough]

Yes, folks, tomorrow is another day! We have to forget about this loss and focus on the important things in life at the moment: TPPT™ & GoodKarma™. They will avenge us, this I promise you! Mark my words, [as I said on Twitter and shall now repeat] CC will make a$sponies of those Halos tomorrow! [maniacal laugh] Choke a rally monkey & let the good vibes take over! WOOOOO!!!!!

Baseball Withdrawal

Now Playing: Miami [ Will Smith ]
‘This the type of town I could spend a few days in
Miami, the city that keeps the roof blazin” ;)

     -_-

Day three without Yankees baseball, and I’m not doing too well.

Yes, today may be my birthday and I should be enjoying it – and I did, I promise – but seriously. I need baseball. Give it to me intravenously, I don’t care, JUST GIVE IT TO ME NOW! >=O

Ugh. Why must baseball be like crack? It’s so addicting… and spoiling, since it’s basically 162+ straight days. This October-being-pretty-much-the-end-of-the-road thing is annoying. It’s a good weaning-off process for after the World Series, but it’s still not my cup of tea. Don’t get me wrong, though, I have love beyond love for playoff baseball… it’s like an even stronger crack, which is probably why I feel like I have the shakes. [just kidding]

I may have NCAA basketball to tide me over from November until the start of next season, but it just doesn’t do the same job baseball does. I do get really into it, but baseball is basically the substance that makes up my blood. Yankees baseball is like my heart, and without that, what’s to keep my real heart from stopping?! Again, hyperbole, but you get where I’m going with this.

But anyway, I shouldn’t worry about this now. Only two more days and I’ll have my boys back! =D I’ve got to say, their beating of the Twinkies in three games was a damn good early birthday present. Plus, I actually had a good day at school today [I skipped a class, sssh!] and my friends are amazing. Even though there wasn’t a party involved, it was probably one of the better birthdays I’ve had, so I’m happy! Plus, tomorrow some friends and I are throwing a surprise party kind of thing at school for my other friend since her birthday is Sunday… I’m excited for that. And Saturday she herself is planning a party at a local club – that oughta be some good times ;D hehe. And before anyone starts thinking “WTF ALCS GAME 2 OMG!,” I know I’ll be missing it. Clearly I’ll be checking in on the scores via text, and I’ll absolutely blog the next day to catch myself up!

With all of that said, I’m just gonna stick with TPPT & GoodKarma to get my boys through Saturday night since I won’t be able to watch live… although now that I think about it, this place is a lounge too, so maybe there will be TVs?! =D =D =D Okay, anyway, I figured I’d post since I’m currently bored out of my skull. At least SVU and Eastwick are on tonight, WOO!

ALDS Game 3: Game, Set, SWEEP

Now Playing: Hi Hater [ Maino ]
‘Let ‘em see me, hi hater; pull off easy, bye hater
You don’t like me, why hater? Won’tcha tell ‘em how mad I make ya?’ ;)

This edition of Now Playing is a tribute to Alex Rodriguez. It’s pretty much his theme song. =) LET THEM HATERS HATE, YO ! =)

Who would’ve thought that a matchup between Carl friggin’ Pavano and Andy Pettitte would be a pitchers’ duel for a good percentage of the time? Not me, that’s for sure. I was so sure Pavano would collapse under the pressure and be carted off the field on a stretcher with another fake injury. No, on the contrary, he went ahead and said ‘suck it, NY’ to everyone who ever doubted him. Well, he did for the first 6 innings of the game, at least. =)

pettitte05b.png     Andy went toe-to-toe with Pavano, matching his every move through the first 5 frames. He did give up an RBI single to Joe Mauer in the 6th, but that was all to be had for the Twinkies. He pitched to Jason Kubel in the 7th and was relieved for Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes, and Mariano Rivera, the latter two having gotten over whatever heebie-jeebies they were suffering from previously. The pitching certainly has been the story of this ALDS, all three Yankee starters only allowing 1 earned run in each of their respective starts this series. And the bullpen is, well, the bullpen. Not just any bullpen, though… THE bullpen.

When all of us out there in Yankees Universe thought Carl Pavano was actually gonna do something useful with his life, we were avenged. Alex friggin’ Rodriguez came to bat in the 7th inning and knocked a solo shot over the football seats in right field of the Metrodome [RIP]. Now you understand why the aforementioned song is his theme? Good. I’m glad we cleared that up.  A couple of outs later, Jorge Posada, aka JoPo Fa-Sho-Sho, put us on top (ba dum, ch!) with another shot to left this time, barely making it over the wall and leaping try of Delmon Young. Just like that, we were up 2-1, and Pavano was in line for the loss. [celebratory dance]
Of course, all of us fans out there were looking for insurance, and we got it. Ninth inning, three straight walks from three different Twins pitchers. Joe Nathan to the mound, and… cue the fail. JoPo knocked a single and Robbie Cano followed suit, giving us another two runs. Cue Mo for the 4-out save, and FIN. Game ovah! ALDS ovah! ALCS here we [bleep]in’ come!

gameend1011b.png     Speaking of Alex Rodriguez and his haters, I think they’re all fit to
be gagged after the series numbers he put up. 5-11 with 6 RBI. He
should have done as they do in Minnesota and sent the Metrodome out with some class. But hey, that’s just my opinion. ;) Just kidding. That would’ve just been silly.

     See where TPPT

& GoodKarma

get you? They get you a friggin’ Division Series Championship and some bottles to pop. Now we need them more than ever, especially with the Hellish Halos

coming to town on Friday. FRIDAY?! A YANKEE-LESS FOUR DAYS?! I DON’T KNOW IF I CAN TAKE THIS! But I must – WE must. I guess it’s good practice for when the season’s over… [slaps self] …sorry. We’ll not speak of such nonsense. We all know baseball season never ends! [nervous laugh] … I guess we’ll just have to live with National League doin’s until then. The Phillies are up 2-1 in their series against the Rockies – the only really competitive series. All three LCS contenders that have already been decided have become so via the sweep [cough CHOKE SOX cough]. How boring. (SIIIIIKE) Game 4 of that series is tonight at 6:00. I might just watch some of it to get my baseball fix. Until we meet again, bloggers!

- Peace out!

Twins/Tigers = EPIC.

Now Playing: We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions [ Queen ]
‘I consider it a challenge before the whole human race
that I’d never lose.’ ;)

Apropos song choice, no? ;D

So… our opponent for the ALDS has finally been decided. After twelve innings of pure playoff-baseball and the atmosphere that comes with it, the Twins mounted a walk-off victory against the Tigers tonight. The entire game was just epic. I swear, if that was a Yankee game, I’m convinced a good percentage of Yankees Universe would have had a collective heart attack.

Since most Yankee fans out there were probably watching the game to see what happened, I need not go into the details. Let’s just keep it at this: web gems and clutch plays galore.  I’m not usually one to watch games that don’t involve the Yankees, but this was definitely more than worth it!

Tomorrow, Boss Dawg takes the hill for Game Numero Uno. I am any combination of the following: stoked/hyped/pumped/jacked/excited/anxious/etc. My blood was pumping throughout tonight’s entire game. Who knows what that means for the series that actually matters! Remember folks, we need to keep TPPT & GoodKarma on our side for the rest of this 2009 season. LET’S GO YANKEES!

- Deuces!

The End? The Beginning? The Beginning of the End?

Now Playing: Walking On the Sun [ Smash Mouth ]
‘This is a love attack, I know it went out but it’s back.
It’s just like any fad retracts before impact.’ ;)

Well, well, well. What a way to end the regular season, huh? Just when we thought this was gonna be a boring-as-hell game, A-Rod basically said, “EAT THIS, TAMPA” and pretty much single-handedly buried the Rays in their own AstroTurf

®. A much, much better result than the last three games – by a longshot.

It’s sad to say the 2009 regular season is over for our boys. They need only 11 wins throughout this postseason to accomplish Mission27

and raise a new banner in the “House That George Built.” But, on the plus side, they finished up with a record of 103-59 along with a guaranteed trip to the playoffs, the AL East title, and Home Field Advantage throughout the playoffs. Talk about a 180

°. I think it’s safe to say
2008 never even existed in Yankees history, at least, at this very moment in
time. =)

But anyway, back to the game itself. AJ got a little
redemption courtesy of his offense come the sixth inning. In the sixth inning,
which should be known as the “Middle Finger” inning, the Yankees
scored all ten of their runs, seven of which came off the bat of Alex
Rodriguez. Those 7 RBI made history today. It let Alex finish the season with a
couple of nice, round numbers – 30 HRs and 100 RBI on the season. His
second homer of the inning set a franchise-record 243 for the season. It made
him the 5th Yankee of the season to have over 25 pops, and second on the team
in RBI, following Tex. Now, I called this inning the “Middle Finger”
inning for a couple of reasons. First, the Rays basically IBBed Tex the second
time around the lineup because they didn’t want him to get ahead of Carlos Pena
for the league lead in home runs. D!ck move on their part. It was a dumb move
both for that reason and because in A-Rod’s previous at-bat of the inning, he
smoked a 3-run shot. Clearly a stupid move, even though they probably could
have cared less whether they won or lost.

The other reason I gave the sixth inning that nomer was because, well, A-Rod beasted it this season. He missed nearly a month’s worth of games [and then some with the days off] and came back to be top-10 in a few offensive categories. If you were told prior to the season that you wouldn’t be back ’til August, but still come back in May and have a season like this? I think anyone would take it. He basically showed everybody who doubted him that he can still work it, even if he’s not 100%. Now, I haven’t been a huge fan of the guy in the past, but this season, I think I’ve been converted. A good postseason may just lead to idolatry.

Sidebar: He sent his first pitch of the season over the fences, and he did just the same with his last. Now that is something.

rodriguez05b.png
Of course, A-Rod couldn’t have had all those RBIs without guys on base. Johnny Damon woke up a little from his recent slumber and had two doubles [both in the sixth inning]. Jeet had two hits, no surprise there. Roboto had a hit, Swish had a hit, Melkster had a hit, and even Panda had a hit (it’s about damn time). Even a good amount of the replacement guys got action: BG scored, Miranda scored, and Guzman scored. For a half inning, it sure was action-packed. And thanks to all this action, AJ, despite giving up two runs and seven hits, got himself his 13th win of the season.

Even though it was a beautiful blowout, some of the relievers had to get some work in. Girardi sent David Robertson to the mound: success. Joba? Success (more on this later). Cokie? Success. Philly “Pornstache” Phranchise? Success. Mo? Speaks for himself. No runs, no hits, no walks for all five of those relievers.
Back to Joba. On Twitter, V [over at Flair For the Dramatic] said this: “Joba is Jesus out of the bullpen.” I don’t think I could have said it better myself. The guy is golden in that spot. I really don’t get why they couldn’t just keep him there. But that’s a debate I’d rather not get into. He pitched a whole half-inning and got a K out of it. He was sssssmokin’. I like him in the bullpen for the postseason. Hopefully he gets a shot at some point.

So, with all of this said, the 2009 season has come to a close. I hate that line. At least there’s still some good baseball left to be seen. I’m hoping TPPT as well as GoodKarma (a newbie on the scene) will be present throughout these playoffs and will help get us that 27th World Series title. The wait will be long, but in the end? Absolutely worth it. Whatever the ALDS may bring, whether the team is Detroit or Minnesota, our boys will be ready with the momentum of this final win behind them. In closing, here’s a preliminary toast to all of you fellow fans out there, to a fan-freakin’-tastic ’09 regular season, and, of course, to our boys in pinstripes. And like an old friend of ours once said, “It ain’t over ’til it’s over.” ;) [clink]

- Hasta Luego!

Poppin’ Champagne!

Massive, massive win in the Bronx today.

Let’s just run through all the goodness that came with said win:
1. 100th win, making our boys 100-56 on the season thus far.
2. They swept this 3-game series against the Red Sox.
3. Aforementioned sweep puts the season series against the Sox at 9-9, while previously going 0-8.
4. They clinched Home Field Advantage throughout the playoffs with the best record in the American League.
and last, but certainly not least…
5. THE YANKEES ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF THE AMERICAN LEAGUE EAST.

HELL MO-EFFIN’ YES.

This was one of those games that just got your blood pumping. When you know what’s at stake and who you’re facing to get there, the win is all the sweeter. Honestly, what Yankee fan can say this game wasn’t a big flip-of-the-bird to the Red Sox? Exactly – none.

See where The Power of Positive Thinking

gets you?! I knew I wasn’t crazy. After all the headaches, heart attacks, anxiety, and all that jazz, we fans can now let out a bit of a sigh of relief. Sure, there’s still a long way to go to get to that elusive #27, but you’ve got to be feeling good about our chances.

So, back to the game itself. Andy picked up his 14th win of the season, going 6 innings while giving up the only 2 Boston runs. He struck out 4 and walked 3. Sure, not his best start of the season, but it was still decent and it was still what they needed to secure the win. Bruney followed him, and while giving Yankees Universe a collective near-heart attack, he pitched 2 scoreless innings… two scoreless innings? Seriously, this is Twilight Zone week to the max.  Coke came in and got a batter out, and Mo, of course, came in to close the deal. In doing so, he picked up his 44th save of the season. Excuse me while I put my shocked face on.

There wasn’t too much offense to be seen today, but we still got what was needed. The MelkMan delivered a bomb in the 3rd inning off Byrd, making the score 2-1. In the 6th inning, however, the designated-DH [not a typo] Hit-deki hit a 2-out, 2-run single in the 6th. Since then, the lead was never relinquished. Tex decided to add on a little insurance in the 8th, belting his 38th shot of the season.

How sweet it truly is to be in this position at this point. Clinching the playoffs against the Angels… clinching the division against the Sox… it’s like something out of a storybook – one of which that eventually finishes with a happy ending. ;)

Speaking of happy endings, here are some of the super-funny celebratory photos that took place after the game, including how I think some conversations went down. Enjoy! =)

The Good, The Bad, and The Just Plain Annoying

It was a late night for me last night, and I sure as hell was not in any capacity to blog. Sure, it was a good night, but I was tired and my sleep cycle is set to “School,” so how I made it until 2am is beyond me. So, I am now pulling double duty.

As my title indicates, we have – over the past two games – experienced The Good:

texccmatsuib.pngThe Bad:

rodriguez02b.pngand The Just Plain Annoying:

chamberlain03b.png

To lighten the mood, we’ll start with…

The Good. Yesterday, CC Sabathia was indeed himself, and pitched a friggin’ gem. He went seven strong innings – despite being pegged with a liner off the bat of Franklin Gutierrez [I believe] in the fifth – striking out 8, walking 2, and only allowing 4 hits. Can we say “life saver”? If this guy wasn’t on our roster, who knows where the hell we would be right now. Let me just say that I am beyond glad that he’s on our side.
The offense, naturally, didn’t want to be left out of the limelight. Mark Teixeira, better known as The Teixecutioner

, had himself – as Kim Jones said in the post game interview – a week’s worth of work in one game. He went 4-5 with two homers, a triple, and a single. Funny though… everyone in the dugout was rooting for a double during his at-bat in the ninth, but he went ahead and knocked the crap out of the ball and sent it over the center field wall. “He don’t need no stinking cycle!” [- David Cone]. Aside from Tex, Johnny Damon quietly put together a 3-4 effort and clearly loves having days off. Mr. Roboto knocked a solo shot and is certainly making a case for his re-signing next season. Frankie Cervelli (

♥) got the start (FINALLY!) and had a 2-4 night with an RBI to show for it. All in all, a fantastic offensive performance plus a spectacular pitching performance = a 10-1 Yankee vic-to-ry!

The Bad. Today’s offense was quite obviously hungover after last night’s party. (FYI, I just put that picture of A-Rod up there to represent the offense as a whole. I couldn’t find a better one… though if I did the sentiment would’ve been the same.) The only one’s who were involved in any sort of useful offense were Mark Teixeira – naturally – and Jorge Posada, who had three days off due to suspension and therefore a sh!tload of rest. Tex managed to go 3-4 with two doubles (where were those last night?!), one of which became a run after a double by JoPo in the 6th. ‘Tis where the offense ends, unfortunately.

And now, the pièce de résistance,
The Just Plain Annoying. In this case, “just plain annoying” and “ugly” are synonymous. Joba friggin’ Chamberlain. You had to know that was coming. His performance today was painful at best. The plan was to let him go at least 5, but that was shot to hell when he gave up 7 earned through 3. I’m not gonna mention that not-so-Billboard-worthy band The Rules” or the epic “Starter or Reliever?” debate, but I would really, REALLY like to know what the hell this kid’s problem is. I know it’s not even worth mentioning those three really good starts he had after his Homeward Bound session, but why can he not pitch like that anymore? Bad mechanics? Poor mentality? Idiocy? What is the answer and where the hell can I find it?!!?

[deep breaths]

Okay, I think I’m good now.

Well, since there’s nothing more to be done about that debacle of a game, we’ll just have to look onward to tomorrow and the [gulp] Los Angeles Angels of The Seventh Circle of Hell Anaheim. But hey, TPPT

should be back from its one-day, unpermitted (confound it!) vacation by then, so we’ve just gotta keep our heads up! When our boys played LAAA (wtf, acronym?) on Monday, Joba pitched well (again, wtf?) and actually managed to keep Vladdy & Co. from doing much damage. Yeah, Joba… where’d you pull that start out of? … ANYway, I’m thinking that game gives our boys the incentive and the confidence to knock the Halos tushies down a few pegs. The fact that Home Field Advantage is on the line wouldn’t hurt as inspiration, either.

So, as you can see, I had a good bit to say about a good bit, but I am finished rambling [whew!] and you good people that visit my blog can go about your Sunday evening business as usual.

Thanks for bearing with me!

Deuces!

Beautiful Day For Baseball

And a trip to the Bronx! =D

That’s right, I made my first trip to the grand new Stadium on 161st St. and River Ave, and let me tell you, it was completely, COMPLETELY worth it.

I was hoping that the Yankees would hold off being swept by the Orioles because I rarely ever go to games, and I like to see wins when I go. It seems that they were in the generous mood because they did win, by a landslide.

girardi01b.pngCC had an overall great outing, except for giving up those two runs in the 2nd and one in the 4th – partially thanks to J-Dames thinking there were three outs when there were only two in the fourth inning. *sigh* Pon atención, por favor, J-Dames!

The fifth inning was where things really got going. As I went to meet some friends from Twitter, both Joe Girardi and Alex Rodriguez got tossed from the game. We missed it on the field, but we were watching it on the TV screens near the concession stands. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Girardi that mad before. It was pretty intense. I thought punches would be thrown… but that would’ve been bad. Apparently the ejections were over balls and strikes, and apparently Marty Foster is in need of some binoculars or some other sort of eye aid.

But, in true New York Yankee fashion, that fire that was lit under their as$es stayed lit. They kept it rolling in the 6th inning, with 2 RBIs from Melky putting the Yanks up 5-3. Then they poured the cement on the coffin in the 8th, scoring 8 runs thanks to pretty much everybody – especially Hit-deki & Melky. Tex and BG had themselves a couple of RBIs in the 8th as well. Offensive production = check.

matsui04b.pngBack to CC. He went seven, giving up 3 runs, 5 hits, 4 walks, and only striking out 1 batter. An odd outing for CC, no doubt about it, but he still managed to get the win. Kudos to the offense once again for backing his big butt up.

As for my own experience at the Stadium, I was pretty overwhelmed. The place is ginormous, but incredibly gorgeous. I wanna live there, or at least get a job as a ball girl. That would be pretty ideal. Could somebody hook me up with that? And maybe a place to live that’s a tad closer than where I am now? Kay, thanks.

Yes, I purposely skipped posting anything about the previous two games because, well, they were pretty disgusting/infuriating/annoying/stressful… and who likes posting about losses? I sure don’t. Good thing I waited ’til today. I brought TPPT™ with me to the Stadium! =D

Tomorrow, in come the Halos. I hate the Halos. They are the bane of my existence. Hopefully the offense didn’t dry up today… ’cause that would not be ideal. Maybe/hopefully the essence of TPPT™ will still be there! [crosses fingers and knocks on wood] A win against this team is a must, especially at home. We’ll see what happens.

Later bloggeroos!
